Academics

In each of our three divisions, Lower (K-5), Middle (6-8) and Upper (9-12), we have created a developmentally appropriate program that is challenging, inspires a love of learning, and augments the many academic and interpersonal strengths our diverse student body bring to class each day.

Lower School

The Lower School program reflects our strong belief in the importance of encouraging a connection to the natural world and to one another. Students receive a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in core and specialty subjects through an innovative curriculum that emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning. A homeroom structure includes daily class meetings that foster a welcoming community with an emphasis on character building activities and community engagement.

Middle School

Upper School

Middle school is a distinctive period of rapid growth and development—intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. Our integrated middle school program includes literature, music, language, history, math, science labs, and hands-on art activities. As students progress through the program, they master the analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills they will need to confidently tackle high school academics. Middle schoolers enjoy expanded opportunities for real-world problem-solving, creativity, and intellectual engagement.

In our Upper School program, students continue to develop competencies in English, math, history, science and one of four world languages (including French, Latin, Mandarin and Spanish), while also having the flexibility and freedom to engage in a wide selection of interesting subjects and advanced course work. From Neurobiology to the Civil Rights Movement...from photography to dance, students are exposed to rigorous yet engaging classes, allowing them to expand their critical thinking and explore their creativity.
